Our Funeral Directors

Patrick Vereb

Our goal is to provide the highest quality funeral service to families with gentle care and dignity to the deceased as has been our tradition for nearly 100 years. The funeral home was established in 1927 by Stephen O’Toole.

John D. O’Connor, Mr. O’Toole’s son-in-law, and his sons continued the family tradition throughout the years.

Currently, the funeral home is managed by Patrick R. Vereb, a Licensed Funeral Director and friend of the family. The outside sign proudly shines "Vereb Funeral Home, Inc."  Patrick continues the family commitment to caring for members of the community during their most difficult times.

The staff is led by Patrick who has over 45 years of experience as a licensed funeral director and will personally assure you of quality funeral services. All the staff of Vereb Funeral Home are dedicated supporters of the local community. A banner outside the funeral home reads "HAZELWOOD PROUD." They are committed to providing your family with the finest funeral services and products available. They are available to help you 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

The funeral home has been offering pet services throuth their company known as "Eternity
Pet Memorial.  There are over 20,000 pets portraits on their website EterintyPetMemorial.com.

Patrick grew up in Hazelwood and resides at the funeral home. He started in funeral service in 1970 at the age of 16. The lengthy career started with washing cars and working calling hours at the Paul C. Forsaith Funeral Home.

After graduating from Central District Catholic High School in 1972, he went to CCAC and then the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science finishing with perfect attendance and graduating with honors. Forty-five years later he finds himself answering that phone and serving yet another family call.
